Abstract
ENGLISH: Introduction: Worries and anxiety can occur to children and adolescents when they are
admitted to the hospital to receive a stoma. Previous research shows that providing information
before the operation can improve the postoperative phase.
Aim: To understand what children, adolescents and their parents need to know before and after
a stomasurgery. As well as how nurses, by using measures and methods, can create the feeling
of security in the time before and after the surgery.
Method: Literature review based on scientific research papers. Keywords like "stoma,"
"children," "parents", "adolescent", "nurs*" and "ostomy" were used.
Results: The findings showed that children and adolescents with a stoma received a lack of
information in the time before and after the surgery.
Conclusion: Children and adolescents with stoma and their parents, will through relevant and
customized information and guidance by nurses experience security.
