Abstract
NORSK:
hos HMT.
s i eller like før RIP.
hybrid -arbeidsflyt.
foreligger. ENGELSK:
Th e printing house Hjemmet Mortensen Trykkeri (HMT) and the
standardisation-project WebICC are in need of a basis for evaluation
when deciding on the best approach of standardising production of
printed matters.
Th is report evaluates the possibilities for implementing a RGB
late-binding workflow at HMT. It presents recommendations and
consequently a sound basis for further development of such workflows.
In RGB late-binding workflows the document is kept in a predefined RGB workspace until RGB–CMYK-conversion takes place
in the RIP. The report suggests how a late-binding workflow can be
implemented at HMT, and evaluates its pros and cons.
As a result of this evaluation, a hybrid workflow is introduced
as the most suitable way of working with printed matters at HMT.
Bitmaps will be defined in a standardised RGB color space, while
remaining elements are defined in a CMYK color space.
Based on the challenges of a RGB late-binding workflow, the
group concludes that HMT and WebICC should work towards
achieving a well functioning hybrid workflow.
An alternative solution is to standardise the workflow of today,
and await specifications from ongoing projects such as the Color
Management Subcommittee of the Ghent PDF Workgroup.
